About Kirby's Moving Company

Meet Tay Nguyen, the owner of  Kirby’s Moving Company.  The company was named in honor of his friend, Kirby Praseuth. I have been inspired by his legacy of focus, commitment and passion. Kirby had an adventurous spirit and infectious smile that we bring to work with us each day in his memory. Our mission is to take his entrepreneurial spirit and maintain a business that operates as he did: with commitment, honesty and a smile.

In 1990, Nguyen emigrated to the United States from Vietnam. He grew up in Des Moines and attended North High School, where he met Kirby Praseuth, who would become his best friend. In 2002, Tay joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served three combat tours in Iraq. After he was honorably discharged, Tay returned to Des Moines where he worked in banking and insurance.

He currently lives in Urbandale with his wife and two precocious young daughters.
